Steiner was named USA Wrestling's full-time National Women's Coach in April 2002, the first in USA Wrestling history. He is responsible for the training of America's elite women freestyle wrestlers, as well as coaching women wrestlers who are involved in the U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete program.

For the first time, women's wrestlers competed in the Olympic Games in 2004. Steiner helped lead that Olympic team to one silver and one bronze medal, the second-highest medal count of any nation.

Since becoming USA Wrestling's National Women's Coach, U.S. teams on international tours have turned in many outstanding performances. At the 2003 World Championships in New York City, all seven U.S. women's competitors won medals, including gold medalist Kristie Marano, as the team tied with Japan for the team title. Japan was awarded the first-place trophy for having the most gold-medalists.

Steiner also led the U.S. women to first place at the 2003 World Cup, where the U.S. defeated host Japan in the finals.

Other top five finishes at the World Championships for the U.S. Women's World Team under Steiner was a third place at the 2005 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and a fifth place at the 2007 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Steiner worked six years as an assistant wrestling coach at Wisconsin, working with head coach Barry Davis. He has helped develop a number of successful Div. I wrestlers, including two-time NCAA champion Donny Pritzlaff.

Steiner spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Oregon State. He was also a coach with the Hawkeye Wrestling Club in Iowa City, Iowa after his college career ended.

Since 1997, he served as one of the coaches for Wisconsin's USA Wrestling Cadet National Team. Along with his twin brother Troy, he directed a kids wrestling club in Iowa City in 1993-94.

Steiner claimed second in the 1998 U.S. Nationals and placed at the U.S. National Championships eight times. He placed fourth in the 1996 Olympic Trials and fifth in the 2000 Olympic Trials. He won a gold medal at the 1996 Pan American Championships.

He was a 1993 NCAA Div. I champion for Univ. of Iowa, coached by the legendary Dan Gable. He won three All-American honors and compiled a career record of 124-27-2. He was also voted the Outstanding Wrestler at the 1993 NCAA Championships. Originally from Bismarck, N.D., Steiner won two state titles for Century High School. Steiner earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Iowa in 1993.

Vladislav Izboinikov

USA Wrestling has hired Vladislav Izboinikov of Yucca Valley, Calif. to the new full-time position of Women's Freestyle National Developmental/Resident Coach.

Izboinikov, who is called 'Coach Izzy' by his athletes, joins USA Wrestling after serving 10 years as a teacher and wrestling coach at Yucca Valley High School in California, where he built a strong program and was active in USA Wrestling programs. He also has an impressive coaching and competition background from his native Russia prior to coming to the United States.

Izboinikov will work supporting the efforts of National Women's Coach Terry Steiner in building the women's wrestling program in the United States.

He will run USA Wrestling's Women's Freestyle Resident Program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. In addition, Izboinikov will be responsible for building the age-group national program in women's wrestling and improving the U.S. performance at the younger ages.

Izboinikov served 10 years as the head wrestling coach at Yucca Valley High School, where he had a conference dual meet record of 42-1 and a 160-34 overall record during his tenure. His team was conference team champion nine times, with 62 conference champions. Yucca Valley won the sectional title four times, with 15 champions and 45 placewinners.

He has been active with California USA Wrestling, as a state level coach in 2004, as well as a developmental coach with the Inland Empire Wrestling Association since 1998. He also served as a developmental coach with the Western New York Super Six Wrestling Club for three years. Izzy is a Silver level certified coach with USA Wrestling's National Coaches Education Program.

Izboinikov has coached U.S. women's wrestling teams on foreign tours, and has participated in training camps with the women's program.

He learned his wrestling coaching and competition skills in Russia, where he competed as an athlete and earned his coaching degrees. He competed in both Greco-Roman and freestyle. He was a member of the Sport Club of Olympic Reserve in Moscow from 1981-87, then trained at the Olympic Training Center in Moscow from 1987-93. Among his achievements were a second place in the Russian Junior National/World Team Tryouts in 1989. He won two medals at the Moscow State Championship during his career, and was a bronze medalist at the College National Championships in 1992.

Izboinikov received his bachelor's degree in physical education from the Moscow State University of Physical Education in 1993. He also received his Wrestling Coach diploma in Russia in 1993. Izzy came to the United States in 1993 to pursue employment opportunities.

Izboinikov is married, and his wife's name is Pam. They have two children, Dimitri (6) and Alyssa (5).

Shannyn Gillespie

Since arriving at the U.S. Olympic Education Center in 2004, Coach Shannyn, a Bronze-Level certified coach in USA Wrestling's National Coaches Education Program, has guided athletes to Jr. World gold medals, a Pan American gold medal, and national championship gold medals. He has also coached 4 Outstanding Wrestlers at USA Wrestling national championships.

In addition Coach Shannyn has had tremendous success as an international mentor. In 2007, he was the first USA women's freestyle coach to bring a collegiate team to Japan's famed Chukyo Women's University ( home of 20 women's world champions, 2 Olympic champions, & 1 Olympic Silver medalist ) for a training camp and cultural exchange. As coach of the 2006 World University Championships team ( Mongolia ), he coached 2 bronze medalists. As coach of the 2005 Jr. World Championships team ( Lithuania ), he coached 1 world champion and 3 silver medalists.

Prior to being named program coordinator of the USOEC USA Wrestling women's freestyle resident athlete program, Coach Shannyn coached at the club level from 2002-2004 in Illinois. While chasing his Olympic dream and wrestling for the Wildcat Wrestling Club, in 1997, he took a position at Northwestern University as a volunteer coach. Coach Shannyn began his coaching career at California University of Pennsylvania and Northern Illinois University from 1994-1996.

Coach Shannyn grew up in Evanston, Ill and culminated his athletic career by training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. from 1997-1999. Prior to the USOTC, Coach Shannyn earned All America honors by winning 3rd place at the celebrated NCAA D-I tournament for Lock Haven University in 1993. He started wrestling in high school, winning the Illinois state championship in 1989.

As an athlete, Coach Shannyn is member of Eastern Wrestling League Hall of Fame, the Lock Haven University Hall of Fame, and the Evanston Township High School Hall of Fame. Coach Shannyn, who won Greco-Roman and freestyle state titles in Illinois, also won freestyle silver medals at USA Wrestling's prestigious University Nationals and Jr. Nationals.

Coach Shannyn and his wife, Emily, have two children Jazmyn (6) & Kayla (4). He enjoys photography, music, and reading. His favorite reading subjects are sport training theory, psychology, and business books. A former break dancer, Coach Shannyn now puts music and photography together in the form of Music video slideshows. He also likes writing in his spare time and has produced many of the articles to promote the growth of women's wrestling and is currently the webmaster for http://freestylefemales.com and http://thewomensmat.com.

Tony DeAnda

Tony DeAnda grew up in South Sioux City, Neb. His wrestling career took off at Augustana College where he received All-America honors in 1992-93. He was also a five-time Mexican national champion and a four-time U.S. National Championships place winner.

DeAnda started coaching in 1996 at Lincoln East High School in Lincoln, Neb. In 2000, he coached at Briar Cliff College, but returned to his alma mater, Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, in 2004. He took the assistant coaching position at the U.S. Olympic Education Center in the summer of 2005.

DeAnda earned a degree in Spanish from the University of Nebraska in 1996. He enjoys playing chess, reading and listening to music.
